As May arrives with its warmer temperatures, the topic of fitness is on the minds of many people who may have slowed down on their activity in the colder months. Fitness is something that employers should also be thinking about, as the health of their workers affects them, too.
May brings with it the celebration of Global Employee Health and Fitness Month — which first was launched in 1989 and has the goal of improving the health of our nation's workforce.
At Flatrock, we believe a healthy and fit staff member is a more productive, happier employee and workplaces should support healthful activities to help make this happen. And we do all we can to keep our care home residents active, too.
There are many ways that employers can encourage healthy lifestyles among their employees, including:
- Arranging a yoga session at the workplace
- Making nutrition resources available to staff to discuss healthy eating strategies
- Hosting an event full of physical activities to keep employees active
As we celebrate Global Employee Health and Fitness Month in May, let’s all do our best to promote the importance of fitness and a healthy diet — whether you are an employer or an employee!
