August is National Immunization Month, a time to bring awareness to the importance of being properly vaccinated. This is especially true for those who work as essential workers, such as our Flatrock staff who are in close contact with residents.
There is no one preventative health measure more important or effective than immunizations. It can help you avoid suffering from many diseases — such as COVID-19, measles, pneumonia and polio.
Unfortunately, misinformation has caused a backlash against vaccinations among some people, which comes with dire consequences. For example, some diseases which have been eradicated have begun to reappear, such as polio did in South America a few years ago.
If you are unsure if you are up to date on your vaccinations, visit your family doctor for guidance. The safety and health of our Flatrock staff and residents is our biggest priority.
