Direct Care Worker
Duties and Responsibilities:
- • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, inviting, and accepting environmentfor adults with special needs
- • Communicate with residents and guardians
- • Assist other staff in organizing and carrying out planned activities
- • Model appropriate techniques when interacting with residents and guardians
- • Communicate any difficulties with residents to Management
- • Ability to approach residents with flexibility, sensitivity, and respect
- • Perform responsibilities such as medication passer, administering medications, taking vitals, and assisting in providing direct personal care for residents
- • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required
- • Educate, train, and advocate for all Flatrock residents’ rights
- • Be patient, firm, consistent, and enjoy working with adults with special needs
- • High tolerance for misbehavior and the ability to empathize with and re-direct misbehavior
- • Respect the confidentiality of residents
- • Ability to intervene with behaviors in a non-punitive and supportive manner
- • Accept supervision and work cooperatively with other staff
- • Able to relate to all members of the community regardless of race, age, gender, cultural, or ethnic background
- • Have good physical mobility due to need to assist residents with limited mobility or in case of emergency
- • Demonstrate respect for the individuals and families with whom they work
- • Ability to approach residents with flexibility, sensitivity, and respect
- • Ability to represent Coordinated Care Professional Services, LLC, in a professional manner
- • Maintain a positive, open relationship with all management and staff
- • Maintain and advocate for Flatrock resident’s rights
- • Complete all additional tasks assigned
Qualifications:
- • High school diploma or GED equivalent
- • Interest and experience working with adults with special needs
- • Must have a valid driver license
- • Must be reliable and dependable
- • High standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and timely completion of work
- • Must be pleasant, empathetic, sensitive, and professional demeanor, a positive attitude, and a willing spirit

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, additional work will occur in the community interacting with residents where noise level may heighten, and violence can occur. The residents can be volatile and physical, and direct care workers may be required to exercise legal and appropriate restraint with residents, utilize safety protocols to intervene during physical or violent acts by residents, and work in an environment where the work involves a chance of incurring a disability or life-threatening injury.
